Artwork by RACHAEL FLYNN

The art of Rachael Flynn is influenced by the joys of living in rural Australia.

Simple scenes such as shearing sheep, harvesting wheat crops or gardening are typical of her work, and can be found on products such as stationery, dinnerware and tea towels. Rachael works under the brand 'red tractor designs'. Her images is instantly recognised, and are part of collections in all regions of Australia. The universal appeal of red tractor designs has taken Rachael's work to many parts of the world including the USA, UK and Asia. She lives in NSW Australia on a sheep and cattle farm with her husband and two sons. A BRIEF HISTORY The images of red tractor designs depict the simple pleasures of rural life in Australia. Scenes of shearing sheep, a wheat harvest or the iconic shed have been lovingly re-created by artist Rachael Flynn and reproduced onto greeting & gift cards, note pads and magnets, as well as licensed products such as tea towels, tableware and other stationery. After leaving art teaching, Rachael began painting 'red tractor' images in the year 2000. After 14 years, these images are instantly recognisable and give a fresh interpretation of life in the Australian bush. Recently, the RTD farm members met with Rachael and expressed that they would like to play a more active role in her brand, allowing their 'character' to develop, rather than just being 'part of the scenery'. She thought that they might be onto something... Rachael is currently exploring the potential of book publishing. She is also investigating opportunities to extend her “red tractor designs” brand beyond the shores of Australia, with its universal appeal. In fact - the farm animals are currently undergoing their vaccination shots...just incase! MEET THE FAMILY The “red tractor’ family consists of creatures of all shapes and sizes & coats and colours. Each member has their own qualities which makes them charming individuals. They have lots in common as well - especially their big hearts. Cow is Sheep's BFF and these two are never far away from each other...Farmer has given up trying to keep them in different paddocks! Cow is a kindly creature - a little slow moving and slightly clueless, but that's why we love her:) She is often found hanging around the garden gate, and hoping for an opportunity to find it open. Her hobbies include staring into space and her favourite food is 'garden'. Horse is our joker in the pack. He sometimes gets himself into a bit of strife when he becomes a little too curious - (we’re not going to talk about the ‘stuck in the window’ incident...) Luckily he’s got lots of friends to rescue him and to overlook his small indiscretions. Horse is a fun-loving soul who loves good company, and is always there to lend a helping hoof whenever it’s needed. MEET THE FAMILY RABBIT (and friends) Rabbit is a friendly little thing who likes playing games and having fun. Rabbit is always hanging out with his other fluffy-tailed mates - they all love to play “Bunny Run” around the farm because there’s lots of good hiding places! The rabbits have been known to play a few tricks on their friend, Foxey...but no-one gets hurt! CHOOK If you're feeling a little shy and insecure, there's no-one more hospitable than Chook to make you feel at home. Chook enjoys entertaining - she always has a freshly baked batch of pellets for her guests:) Her only vice to date is making a mess in the vegie patch while scratching in the mulch with her other feathery friends. PIG DOG It's true what they say....Dog is definitely Farmer's BFF. Dog has endless energy and is always up for a chasing game with his farm friends (which can be a little exhausting at times). Dog likes to wander a bit - he often goes AWOL to visit the neighbours, but Farmer always seems to forgive him on his return. Pig is an industrious creature and is always up for a culinary challenge. His specialty is his prize winning Mud Cake, which always goes down a treat! Most of the cake just ends up all over Pig after he's rolled in it. You’ll often find him at Chook’s house as they enjoy sharing their love of mud and pellets :) MEET THE FAMILY FARMER and SALVATION JANE The RTD property is run by these 2 farmers, who look after the land and their animal friends. Farmer and Salvation Jane have a mixed farming operation, which keeps them very busy. They also enjoy working in their vegetable garden and cooking fresh farm food. THE BIRDS of OZ Most RTD images feature a magpie, galah, kookaburra, cockatoo, willie wagtail or wren. If it wasn't for these friendly feathered fellas, it wouldn't be Australia:) NEW FAMILY MEMBERS Recently acquired additions to the RTD family include Milky, Baldy and Mrs Trotsky, which will feature in future tales on the farm. Afterall...we’ve always should have something to look forward to! red tractor designs© All rights reserved 2014
